GLOBAL WARMING: THE BAD NEWS IS THAT GAS PRICES ARE FALLING.
Waiting for the problem to solve itself after we exhaust fossil
fuel reserves has a significant downside. So who's waiting?
California is suing six automakers for environmental damage from
auto emissions. The British Royal Society charged that Exxon
funds groups like the Competitive Enterprise Institute to spread
misleading information about climate change. Sir Richard Branson
says billions of dollars in his profits from Virgin companies
will be invested in alternative energy, and a lot of billionaires
in Forbes list of the world's richest people are investing in the
same thing. Ford and Chevrolet are sinking under the weight of
the SUV gas hogs they turn out (unfortunately, it's their workers
who will pay the price). All this from higher gas prices? Let's
shoot for $4 gas. But not everyone gets the message. A GM
spokesman sought to counter California's suit by pointing out
that GM is working on hydrogen-powered vehicles. Sigh!

Comments:
We are very far from running out of fuel. There is more than enough to get us to an income based energy system (wind, solar, biomass etc.)

BTW any explantion about global warming on Mars? GM been exporting too many SUVs to the Martians?

In any case we will probably be off fossil fuels by 2100 as our technology develops. Suing the car companies will do nothing to advance technology.

However, I do like California's attitude. It will drive business to other states. I live in Illinois and we need all the help we can get. If we can't help I'm sure the Chinese will be glad to pitch in.

The Chinese produce 6X the as much of CO2 per $ of GDP as the Americans. Perhaps California is suing the wrong people.

Laws don't go very far when the required solution is technology which is currently unavailable.

If California was serious they would mandate the fuel efficiency of all vehicles on the road, limit the number of vehicles, and monitor the number of miles driven and heavily tax the excess. You just can't have people driving where ever they want whenever they want. There must be order, not anarchy.

We can get higher gas prices by making more SUVs. Increasing energy efficiency will lower gas prices reducing the impulse to conserve.

The amazing thing is that University trained folks are ignorant of economics. Science. Technology. Logistics. etc.

The very fastest way to speed us to an income based energy system is to use up the oil as fast as we can. More Hummers and SUVs. Please.

Message to first time readers:

Optimism and an open mind are the most radical political acts there are.
We have thousands of energy options that can save our economy and planet without sacrificing our resources or lifestyles.

The general public only hears of the few options that line the pockets of the few that result in the suffering of the many.

The public information on this website makes it easy for anyone to clearly understand how viable and abundant our future can really be.
